Why WaveDirect?
Serving the needs of our communities has driven our business for the last 19 years.
We launched our wireless internet network in Leamington 2004 to provide services in a region that lacked the infrastructure to provide stable high-speed connection. While bigger internet providers were covering the city and town centres, our efforts focused on the surrounding communities in the county regions that were heavily underrepresented.
Fine tuning and expanding our own private network allowed us to continue to bring high-speed internet to new rural communities and provide faster speeds to our customers (or neighbours, as we like to refer to them).
Over the years, implementing solution focused technology has allowed us to tackle challenges in the wireless internet space, while always keeping our neighbours connected to family, friends and community.
We began our first service expansion in 2016 introducing WaveDirect into the more urban regions of our community. Our fibre-fed internet service became available in our local towns and cities of Amherstburg, Belle River, Essex, Kingsville, LaSalle, Leamington, Tecumseh, Wheatley and Windsor.
Entering new markets with fast unlimited high-speed internet and competitive rates, plus being a trusted local business, gave us the opportunity to expand our neighbourhood and connect even more people!
Introducing a new variety of services also gave us the opportunity to showcase faster speed availability, unlimited internet data usage, and newer solutions for in-home WiFi.
With a continued focus on bringing our neighbours new innovative technology, we launched our first full fibre network in the Cedar Island region of Kingsville in 2020. This meant our customers were given the opportunity to connect with fast speeds up to 1 Gig download and upload – a first for our company!
Exploring new regions was important for our development, and we continued expansion into the southwest regions of Essex county with the acquisition of G1 Broadband in 2020 and we continued east of Leamington into Chatham-Kent soon after.
Along with expanded internet coverage blanketing our entire region, our dream of a TV service was finally realized this past year when we launched our long anticipated fully regulated IPTV (internet protocol television) service called NorthWaveTV.
Adding a television service that provides a user-friendly experience on an app with streaming device, and allowing users to connect to over 170 packages and channels gave our neighbours the bundle experience they desired.
The excitement of new technology and growth is important for any business, but we haven’t lost sight of the private network that got us started. We continue to invest and introduce new technology to make our homegrown network run efficiently and effectively for our neighbours.
As we approach 20 years in the telecommunications industry, we’re excited to continue growing with new innovative opportunities that allow us to take our suite of services to new heights.
